Chips and backup
Where your chips and positions live, the passphrase lock, exporting and importing, and Forget this device.
Where they live
Your chips and positions live only on this device, in your browser's storage, each record encrypted with AES-GCM-256 under a key the browser won't export. There is no account and no server copy: lose the device or clear the site's data without a backup, and they're gone.
Chips are bearer money. Anyone who holds them can spend them, so treat a backup file like cash.
Lock with a passphrase
In Settings → Vault lock, add a passphrase. The vault's keys are then kept only wrapped by it (PBKDF2-SHA-256, 310,000 rounds): you enter it once per tab to trade or see your positions, and Lock now or closing the tab forgets them. Forget the passphrase and only an exported backup brings the vault back.
Export and import
Settings → Backup exports this network's whole vault to one encrypted file (kakure-<network>-<date>.kakure),
sealed with a passphrase you choose. It holds your chips, open positions, deposits and withdrawals in flight, and any
tickets from the earlier pool markets; it leaves out trade replays. Nothing is uploaded.
Import adds what this device doesn't have and keeps what it does. Imported chips might have been spent since the file was made, so they're held apart until the mint confirms which are still unspent. A file from the other network is refused.
On an iPhone's Home Screen
A web app added to an iPhone's Home Screen keeps its own storage, apart from Safari's. Chips held in Safari don't appear in the Home Screen app, and the other way round. Install it before you deposit, or export a backup in one and import it in the other.
Forget this device
Settings → This device → Forget this device deletes every chip, position, key, cached file and setting Kakure stored in this browser, and its offline cache. Export a backup first if anything in it is worth keeping.
